Contact Tracing Shouldn’t be a Headache

If we’re going to open up local business, it has to be done responsibly, but what does that actually mean in practice?

One thing we know that’s key to keeping people safe as businesses reopen is contact tracing. If we can track down where someone with the virus was, we can alert others and effectively mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

This is the reason that governments across the globe are obligating restaurants that open to collect a piece of contact information from their visitors. It sounds great, but in reality, this is hard to execute. Most restaurants have resorted to keeping a paper log of every guest that comes in the door, with their check-in time and contact info.

This has its issues, what do you do if you need to hand this information to the government? How do you ensure that your visitors contact information is kept safe? How do you ensure this information is shredded after a reasonable amount of time?

On top of all that, it’s a pain for staff, and a pain for visitors.

That’s why we created GuestLog — a smart way to log restaurant visitors that’s easy for the business, and the customer.

How it works…

1. Every restaurant receives a unique phone number and QR code that can be easily printed off and displayed.

2. When guests arrive, they send a text to that business's unique number with their name. We then automatically log the check-in time, phone number, and name of the visitor. Optionally, the guest can scan a QR code and enter their info via a web form.

Either text your name, or check-in online.

The information is held for 30 days, then automatically deleted to ensure the safety of the visitor's data.
